Black Jack VFD says ‘thanks for help at fire’

Dear editor,

The residents of Black Jack would like to express our thanks to the firefighters that battled the estimated 150-acre brush fire last Wednesday.

At last count there were five fire departments, numerous fire trucks and countless firefighters along with two dozers and one air tanker dropping water.

We would like to thank the fire departments from Cade Lake, Deanville, Rockdale and Milano along with our own Black Jack VFD.

We would like to thank the unknown dozer operator who just showed up to help and Buddy Morton for the use of their services and Mr. Lauderdale for the use of his aircraft to make water drops and to scout the fire.

It was an awesome sight to see his air craft swoop down and drop water on the advancing fire.

Thanks all for saving our homes and property.
