Christmas cantata set Sunday at St. John’s
The chancel choir of St. John’s United Methodist Church will present its annual Christmas cantata during 11 a.m. morning worship Sunday, Dec. 19, according to Rev. John Warren, pastor.
The public is invited to hear the choir, under the direction of Melanie Todd, as it presents Holy Night of Miracles—A Cantata of Hope for Christmas, Rev. Warren said.
Christmas Eve service— St. John’s UMC will hold its annual Christmas Eve candlelight service at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 24 with the public invited.
Peace Lutheran plans Christmas Eve service
Peace Lutheran Church in Rockdale will hold its traditional services of lessons and carols at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24, Pastor Jan Campbell has announced.
“This service includes Holy Communion and ends in candlelight with the singing of ‘Silent Night’ in German and English,” she said.
No ser vice w ill be held on Christmas Day at Peace Lutheran, but regular worship will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, she said.
First Baptist sets 8th Christmas Eve service
First Baptist Church, 240 Green Street in Rockdale, will hold its eighth annual Christmas Eve candlelight service from 5:30 until 6:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24.
Rev. Jack Chelf, pastor, said the public is invited. “Families are invited to bring their visiting relatives to this special service,” he said.
Christmas Eve service at St. Thomas Episcopal
St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 302 Davilla Street in Rockdale, will hold a Christmas Eve service of lessons and carols, followed by the Celebration of Holy Eucharist at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24.

Christmas Eve— A candlelight Chr istmas Eve ser v ice with communion will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24 at Meadowbrook Baptist, 1401 Colorado Street.

‘First Place 4 Health’ series to begin Jan. 13
“First Place 4 Health,” a Chr ist- c entered weig ht-loss and healthy living program, will begin a new session in Rockdale on Jan. 13, 2011, according to Suzanne Turner, spokesperson.

Next men’s breakfast Jan. 11 at Presbyterian
Next monthly second-Tuesday communit y men’s fellowship breakfast will be 7 to 8 a.m. Jan. 11 at First Presbyterian Church fellowship hall.
Purpose of the meetings are to allow men of all denominations to gather for food, fellowship and a brief devotion. These breakfasts rotate between several local churches.
