Rockdale welcomes winter at 84 degrees

We probably won’t have a white Christmas Saturday but at least we’ll get to turn off the air conditioners.

With much of the remainder of the United States shivering through December, temperatures have soared to and past 80 in Rockdale.

Tuesday’s high was 84 as recorded on the U. S. Weather Service thermometer at KRXTFM.

There were highs of 79 and 73 last week. Eight of December’s 21 days, through Tuesday were 70 or greater.

Through Tuesday there hadn’t been a freezing temperature in December. The month’s low was 41 on Dec. 6.

There has been no rainfall reported in Rockdale during the month.

Heavenly Treasures closed for two weeks

Heavenly Treasures thrift shop will be closed for two weeks during the holiday period, according to Pat Watson, volunteer.

Watson said the thrift store will be closed Thursday, Dec. 23 and will re- open Tuesday, Jan. 11.

Milam judge ‘fellow’ of judicial academy

AUSTIN—Milam County Judge Frank Summers was recently inducted as a fellow in the Texas Judicial Academy during a ceremony in Austin’s Doubletree Hotel during its fall judicial education session.

The academy each year names as fellows judges “who attain significant judicial education above that required by state law.” Suicide prevention walk set March 26th

The Rockdale High School track will be the site of a suicide prevention walk on March 26.

Spokespersons Kelli Sue Pelzel and Brenda Santellano said participants may sign up for the event through 5 p.m. March 25.

Check-in time March 26 is 9 to 10 a.m. with the walk from 10 a.m. to 12-noon.

Donations may be made to the effort through June 30.
