Classes start back for Milano students Tuesday

Reporter correspondent

Classes will resume for Milano ISD next week after a two week Christmas break. Teachers and staff head back on Monday, Jan. 3 and students will return on Tuesday, Jan. 4.

Hope everyone had a joyful Christmas. We were blessed to see all of our children and their spouses and most of our grandchildren and their girlfriends and boyfriends. It was wall-to-wall at our house on Dec. 23 but we wouldn’t change it.

I’m not sure who won the annual game of charades. We did find out that granddaughter Skylar Lagrone will be heading up north to Fort Lewis, Washington for her next duty station in the US Army.

Buck, Marie, Bradley and Hannah Bakken, Edith, Roy Gene and Trent Miller, Janie Lagrone, Claude and I were in Gause on Christmas Eve night at the Chris and Kelly Cooper home for the annual Cass Family Christmas gathering. We enjoyed great food and playing the Chinese gift exchange game. You never know what kind of gift you will come home with. We extend our sympathy to the Jesse Love family on the passing of his sister Odessa Colley of Caldwell. Services were held Tuesday at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.

We also extend our sympathy to postmaster Sue Davenport and family on the passing of her brother Thomas McNeil.

Milano Athletic Booster Club has set up baseball/softball concession stand clean up days on Jan. 9 and 16, a spring “Meet the Eagles” on Feb. 10 and the annual alumni baseball and new alumni softball games set for March 5.

For more information or to play in the alumni games, contact Karen Gray at 979-777-3960 or

Milano’s PATCH Club is collecting the Educational Box Tops and will turn them in for funds to help with the school. You can turn in the labels to the elementary school office, or let me know and I will get a PATCH Club member to come by and get them.
