Three hurt in Milano area wreck

Three persons were injured in a one-vehicle accident east of Milano last Wednesday afternoon.

State Trooper Mark Berry said the accident occurred at 4:45 p.m. near the US 79-County Road 375 intersection.

Driver was listed as Karen Kelly, 54, of College Station.

Berry said she was injured as were passengers Ashley Kelly, 25, and Steven Mayworm, 26, both of College Station.

Berry said Mayworm, who was ejected from the vehicle, was the most seriously injured and was flown to St. Joseph’s Hospital, Bryan for treatment.

The Kellys were taken to St. Joseph’s by ground ambulance, according to the DPS.

Berry said the vehicle left the highway, travelled through a ditch and struck a tree.

Damages were listed as extensive.

Milano and Gause fire departments responded to the scene along with AMR paramedics.

No injuries were reported in a 7 a.m. Dec. 21 accident on US 79 west of Milano, according to Trooper Erik Gaston.

Driver was listed as Melissa Krnavek, 39, of Leander.

Damages were termed moderate.

Trooper Broderick Sims said no injuries were reported in a 4 p.m. Christmas Eve one-vehicle accident on US 77, .2-mile north of County Road 335.

Sims listed the driver as Leslie Horn, 20, of Cleburne.

He said the vehicle hydroplaned on the wet highway and went through a fence.

Damages were termed moderate.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
