Saturday chase, crash on FM 487 leads to charges

A 27-year-old Cameron man is being held on $20,000 bond after a Saturday night chase with sheriff’s department personnel ended with a crash northwest of Rockdale.

Herratio Decontee Holmes was arrested at the scene of the one-vehicle rollover—FM 487, one-half mile northwest of County Road 303—by Deputy Eddy Veracruz.

Holmes, who had been wanted on capias pro fines for bail jumping/ failure to appear and no driver’s license, was charged with evading arrest and detention with a vehicle.

He was also charged with no driver’s license disregard of traffic control device and unsafe speed. In addition to bond, he was also fined a total of $1,289.

Others taking part in the chase, just before 9 p.m., included Sheriff David Greene, Chief Deputy Chris White and Deputies Jay Beathard, Larry Morgan and Mike Hoyt.
