Korenek, Walko win 2010 county EEA awards
Each year two Milam County Extension Education Association members are recognized for their accomplishments in the organization. The 2010 winners are Nettilee Korenek for “Rookie of the Year” and Barbara Walko for “Member of the Year”. Both ladies are members of the New Salem EEA Club in Rockdale. Full Story

Milano, Gause elementaries win medals at UIL meet
Students from Milano and Gause elementary schools participated in the District 27-A North Zone UIL Academic Contest on Dec. 6-7 in Snook.
Milano Elementary finished second overall according to principal Stephanie Longoria. Supt. Perry Bell said Gause Elementary placed fifth overall. There were six schools competing, which also included Burton, Somerville, Snook and Thrall. Full Story
