Culberson on UNT Dean’s list, worked in SHSU intern program
Last summer she participated in a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program at Sam Houston State University. Culberson was chosen as one of eight interns that were chosen from a pool over 200 applicants.
The internship is funded by the National Science Foundation and is considered a prestigious internship for science majors.
While at SHSU, Culberson worked closely with her mentor, Dr. Tamara J. Cook, the associate dean of SHSU’s science department, to propose, conduct and present an experienment on the host specificity of eugregarine parasites in damselfly hosts that live in the Big Thicket Region East Texas.
Culberson is scheduled to graduate in May 2011 with a bachelor’s of science degree in biological sciences.
She is the daughter of Peggy Boney and Richard Culberson, the stepdaughter of Frankie Culberson and the granddaughter of Ruth Boney.
