Kortis

CAMERON—Funeral services for George Kortis, 65, of Temple will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 2010 at Evangelical Brethren Church in Buckholts with Rev. Frank Simcik officiating. Burial will follow in Seaton Cemetery.

Visitation is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.

Mr. Kortis died Saturday, Jan. 8, at his home.

He was born July 31, 1945, in Caldwell to Alfred and Georgie Marie (Mucha) Kortis.

Mr. Kortis was a C.H. Yoe High School graduate and served in the Army National Guard.

He married Wanda Janes on Sept. 18, 1965.

Mr. Kortis retired from E.R. Carpenter as a quality assurance super v isor and from Temple Daily Telegram after 22 years of service.

He had also worked for King’s Daughters Clinic.

Mr. Kortis was a member of Evangelical Brethren Church in Buckholts.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Ray Kortis.

Survivors are his wife, Wanda Kor tis of Temple; four sons, Michael Kortis and James Kortis, both of Temple, Daryl Kortis of Fairfield, David Kortis of Holland; a daughter, Tammy Kortis Turnbo of Killeen; three brothers, Alfred Kortis Jr. of Bryan, Clement Kortis of Gatesville, Kenneth Kortis of Waukesha, Wisconsin; and a sister, Georgia Capp of Buckholts; also, 15 grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.
