Chamber sets annual meeting January 27th
The Rockda le Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual meeting at 12-noon Thursday, Jan. 27, in the Patterson Civic Center.
Chamber President Denice Doss said the luncheon meeting will include reports on the past year’s activities.

Officer of the year program ahead Jan. 29
The f if th annual Rockdale Police Department Officer of the Year program will be held Saturday, Jan. 29, at the KC Hall.
Doors will open, and a silent auction begins, at 6 p.m. with a catered meal served at 6:30.

Deer hit twice Friday in Milano area crash
Friday just wasn’t the right morning for a deer to try and cross US 190/Texas 36 just north of Milano.
Trooper Eric Gaston said the deer was first struck by a vehicle operated by Candis Oberdorf, 25, of Milano, then by an 18-wheeler driven by William Livsay, 55, of Lometa.
No (two-legged) injuries were reported. Damages were termed moderate to both vehicles. Full Story

The fifth annual Tejas Art, Book and Culture Fest will be held Fr iday a nd Ma rch 4- 5 , according to Denice Doss, president of the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce.

TISD superintendent gets contract extension
THORNDALE—School board members in Thorndale met in regular session Monday and okayed a one- year contract extension for Supt. Casey Callahan.
Board members also accepted the 2009-10 audit as presented by Archie Montemayor CPA.

Thorndale council approves sign variance
THORNDALE— City council members in Thorndale, meeting last Wednesday in regular session, approved a variance to the city sign ordinance, allowing a sign to be placed in Thorndale extra-territorial jurisdiction outside the eastern city limits.
The council did not change the franchise fee calculation with Atmos Energy and declined a request to install speed bumps. Full Story
