Economic development ‘summit’ set for Thursday

Rockdale’s economic future, and how to make it as bright as possible, will be the topic for an Economic Development Summit, set for 7 p.m. Thursday in the Patterson Civic Center.

“Purpose of the summit is for local organizations involved in economic development to discuss roles and responsibilities concerning economic development,” City Manager Kelvin Knauf said.

“Organizations will also review and comment on the draft goals and objectives for an economic development plan that is being studied by the Planning & Zoning Commission for inclusion in the city’s Comprehensive Master Plan,” he said.

“We will also discuss how Rockdale can be more competitive in attracting businesses and jobs,” he said.

Knauf said the meeting is public but will not be in a “town hall” format.

A number of city officials are expected to attend the summit.
