3rd annual alumni baseball game Feb. 19

The 3rd Annual Baseball Alumni Scrimmage will be held on Saturday Feb. 19 starting at 11 a.m.

The cost is $10 and any person interested in playing in this scr immage needs to contact Denise Betchan at (512) 430-6150 at the athletic office.

You can also hand deliver your entry fee to Betchan at the athletic office. Please sign up before Feb. 1.

CAMERON—The Milano High School powerlifting teams got their 2011 seasons underway on Saturday at the Cameron meet held at Yoe High gymnasium.

Coach Sean Connor said that four Eagle lifters and six Lady Eagles competed for the team at the event.

The boys team finished fifth overall at the meet, led by sophomore Jamie Czajkowski who won the 181-pound weight class.

He finished atop the standings with a 450 pound lift on squat, 315 on bench press and 435 on deadlift for a total of 1,200.

Freshman Chance Pack and senior Joseph Morris finished seventh and 10th respectively in the 180-pound class as well.

Junior Brandon Garza was fourth in the 148-pound class, while sophomore Austin Turner was fifth in the 165-pound division. Michael Elston, a sophomore, was fifth in the 220-pound class.

The Lady Eagles f inished fourth as a team, led by sophomore Brianna Roth who won the 114-pound class with a total of 495. Junior Elizabeth Bradshaw finished third and freshman Jessica Bradshaw was fourth in the 132-pound class.

“All of their hard work over the past couple of months really showed,” Connor said. “We are looking forward to the meet in Smithville on Jan. 29 and the rest of the season.”

The Rockdale Girls Softball League will hold sign ups Jan. 22 and 29 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the softball complex.

The Rockdale Youth Baseball Association will hold an informational meeting for anyone interested in being a board member, spokesperson Tom Loth said.

The meeting is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25 at the Rockdale General Store meeting room.
