Tourney this weekend at school

Gause girls junior high basketball teams w ill host a tournament on Friday and Saturday. On Saturday the youth group from Gause Baptist Church will be holding a silent cake auction at the gym starting at 9 a.m.

The youth group is still taking orders for enchilada plates to go that will be delivered on Friday, Jan. 28. You may call the church parsonage at 979-279-6191 and there is also a sign up sheet at Coats Grocery. Cost for the plates are $10 each and you will pay upon delivery. This is to help finance the group’s planned ski trip during spring break.

The temperatures were a little disagreeable this week, but the rain was great.

Remember Roseanne Ely in your prayers. She has been in intensive care at a Houston hospital since last week with a heart problem. Gause 4-H Club met for its monthly meeting on Jan. 10 in the Gause ISD cafeteria. The meeting was conducted by president Holly Kornegay. Recent 4-H activities were reviews as well as upcoming activities that club members will be participating in.

Those included 4-H Day at the state capitol in Austin on Feb. 2, consumer decision making contest in San Antonio the first weekend in Februar y and on that Saturday evening, three club members will participate in the San Antonio Livestock Exhibition calf scramble. Good luck to all of the participating youth from the club.

The next club meeting will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 8 in the school cafeteria. Members will be addressing Valentines for veterans.
