United Way nears 40 percent
The South Milam County United Way is nearing 40 percent of its $50,000 goal for its 2011 campaign and its president is optimistic the goal will be met.

Two-time ‘top cop’ was also runner-up twice
One of the Stephen Goodriches in the KC Hall Saturday night was honored as the Rockdale Police Department’s Officer of the Year for 2010.
There were four of them on hand, including Ofc. Stephen Goodrich III, who was named the department’s officer for the second time in the four years he’s been with the department.

Events ‘steer’ Chamber into 2011

Permits $100,784 for January 2011
City building permits totaled $100,784 in January to open up the 2011 calendar year. A majority of the total comes from an addition being constructed by the MARC Center, located at 1705 Pecos.
Building permits are issued at City Hall and reflect only construction in the city limits
That brings the total for the fiscal year 2011, which began in October 2010 to $492,302. Full Story
