We had our annual meeting last week to give an idea of what the Chamber has done in the last year and a glimpse of what is to come. I appreciate the directors who have recently rotated off of the Chamber board—Cody Caldwell, chairman, Michelle Lehmkuhl, past chairman. Looking over activities of last year I think incoming chair Cindy Jerman put it well when she said, “We had an interesting year in 2010 and we are looking for great things in 2011.”
As the Chamber continues to work to promote Rockdale we will also continue to look for ways to work with other organizations as well as the City of Rockdale. Working together works and, as a matter of fact, that is the only way it will work.
I look forward to working with the Chamber board which is made up of Cindy Jerman, Becky Booker Marek, Deedra Jacob, Michelle Morgan, Hunter Matula, Wallace Jones, Chris Dyess, Mitul Patel, Debra Jackson, Joyce Ford and Cody Caldwell. We have a good board that represents our Chamber well.
The Tejas Committee is working on the 5th Annual Tejas Art and Book Festival to be held on March 4-5. We have plans for some great authors, some talented artists, a gardening display— new this year, activities in the I&GN Depot, car show and activities at the Kay Theatre.
There will be entertainment all day, food vendors and so much fun. If you would like to be involved in the Tejas Festival come by or call the Chamber and get your activity on our list.
Our website will soon be online. We are excited about this new way to promote our town. We need for the membership to update your information so that we can best represent you on our site. In our newsletter that goes out this week we have a survey for you to fill out. I hope you will take a few minutes to do that and get it back to us so we can have all of your pertinent data about your business.
Until next time I leave you with this...Try not to become a person of success. Rather become a person of value.
