‘Scam’ complaint nets felony theft arrest in Rockdale

A complaint of payment for work which was contracted but not performed, according to police, led to the arrest of a 30-year-old Franklin man last week.

Casey Brandon Allen was charged with theft ($1,500 to $20,000), according to Police Chief Thomas Harris.

Allen was also charged with bond surrender/ bond jump - ing and failure to appear. He remains in the county jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.

ARREST—Emily Anne Hacker, 28, of Rockdale, was arrested Thursday on a Milam County warrant alleging probation violation on an original charge of forgery of a financial instrument.

She remains in custody in lieu of $21,000 bond.

ASSAULTS—Police investigated three misdemeanor assaults during the week and made arrests in two.

Harris said the victim dropped charges in the third incident.

Several thefts were reported including a shoplifting incident at Walmart and a chainsaw taken from a pickup truck.

ACCIDENTS—No traffic accidents were reported inside the Rockdale city limits during the past week.

‘DISRUPTIVE’—Harris said Ofc. Tommy Shr iver, school resource officer assigned permanently to the Rockdale ISD, cited two students for “disruptive activities” during the week.

“ These would be instances where a student misbehaved in class,” Harris said.

CITATIONS—Police said citations issued during the past week included 16 for speeding, nine for failure to maintain financial responsibility, seven for possession of alcohol by a minor, four for expired registration, three for expired MVI sticker, two for violation of open container law and one for violation of driver’s license restriction code.

Two citations were issued for disorderly conduct and one each for crossing a fire hose, assault by contact and curfew violation.

SERV ICE CA LLS—Police responded to 125 calls for service during the past week along with 91 calls through the 911 system.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
