GREEN RIVER, WY— Following cremation, a memorial service for J.D. Miller Jr., 84, of Green River, Wyoming, formerly of Rockdale, were held Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, at Green River United Methodist Church in Green River Wyoming with pastor Mark Collins officiating.

Mr. Miller died Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County in Rock Springs, Wyoming.

He was born Sept. 16, 1926, in Arlington to J.D. and Ruth Wade Miller.

Mr. Miller attended schools in Arlington and Lubbock and was a 1944 graduate of Arlington High School. He attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in engineering.

He married Charlene Johnston in Arlington on March 4, 1950.

Mr. Miller served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean Conflict.

He worked for Industrial Generating Co. in Rockdale as an engineer from 1954 to 1973 and for General Chemical (Allied Chemical) for 15 years until his retirement on May 19, 1988.

Mr. Miller was a member of the Lions Club from 1959 to 1973, Rockdale Country Club from 1959 to 1973, Boy Scouts of America as a pack leader from 1969 to 1973 and Rolling Green Country Club from 1973 to 2011.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Charlene Miller of Green River, Wyoming; two sons, Michael H. Miller and wife Julie, Stephen D. Miller and wife Cleo, all of Rock Springs, Wyoming; two sisters, Pat Galyon of Golden, Gayle Bramall of Wesley, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Cindy Halstead and husband Todd, Shane Miller and wife Beth, Sheila McKloskey and husband Kenny, Jennifer Bieber and husband Chad, and Sean Miller; and eight great- grandchildren, Ron Halstead, Stephen Halstead, Shellena Beaver, Conner McKloskey, Ivan Miller, Savanah McKloskey, Gabriella Miller and Dominik Bieber; also, many nephews and nieces.
