MARC Run meeting

The MARC Run committee will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6 at The Ranch to plan the 10th annual MARC Run to be held April 2.

“This fundraiser benefits the MARC Center (Milam Association for Retarded Citizens, Inc.), a 501C3 non-profit organization that serves Milam County adult residents with mental retardation and developmental disabilities,” said Charles Starr, run director.

Anyone who would like to help with this fund-raiser is asked to attend the meeting. Anyone who wants to help but cannot attend is asked to call or email Starr at 512- 540-2561 or cr_ starr@sbcglobal.net.

Ag Boosters dance

Rockdale FFA Ag Boosters invites the public to its annual Sweetheart Dance on Saturday, Feb. 26.

“This is a major fund-raiser for the organization and, like many organizations, we are in need of community support more than ever this year,” said Kathy Pelzel, publicist.

Genealogy society

Milam County Genealogical Society met Jan. 25 with 14 members and one guest in attendance. Officers for 2011 were nominated and inducted as follows:

President, Patricia Whiteley McKee; vice-president, Sterlin Barton; secretary, Judy Matherne; treasurer, Florene McDaniel; newsletter editor and program chair, Linda Whorton.

Patricia McKee presented a program on “19th Century Naming Patterns.”

Milano VFD chili feed

MILANO–Milano’s Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual chili supper/auction Saturday, Feb. 12 at the Civic Center, according to MVFD president Gary Vinton.

Serving will begin at 4:30 p.m. and continue until sold out. Prices are $6 adults and $3 children 12 and under (eat-in or carry-out); silent and live auctions, live entertainment, prizes.

Tickets ($5 donation) for prizes including: a Henry Golden Boy 22 caliber LR; Weatherby VG1 B.A.; Remington 770 Combo; Remington 870 12-gauge or 20-gauge; Mossberg Crown Bantam 20-gauge; Marlin 17V B.A.; Brinkman 5-burner gas grill; Garmin 135 OT Nubi Auto GPS; $125 gift certificate and $100 gift certificate.

China Paint Club

CAMERON—The Cameron China Paint Club met Jan. 27 and planned a bake sale fund-raiser to be held April 21 across from the Cameron post office. Club president Lois Panayi announced that the annual china painters convention will be held at the Austin Airport Hilton April 13-16.
