Lady Tigers looking to end season on high note

LaGrange uses second half surge for victory

LaGrange used a 36-14 advantage in the second half to break open a tight game and hand the Rockdale Lady Tigers a 55-27 loss Tuesday night on the road.

The Lady Tigers drop to 7-20 overall and 1-7 in District 23-3A with two games left to play in the regular season.

Visha Henderson and Shalona Mitchell each hit five points to pace the Lady Tigers

Victoria Drake and Devin Flores added four points each as nine different Lady Tigers scored on the evening.

Sophie Rojas grabbed four rebounds.

The Lady Tigers close out their season by hosting league leading Giddings on Friday and then traveling to cellar-dwelling Caldwell on Tuesday.

LaGrange remained in the hunt for a playoff spot by improving to 15-8 overall and 3-4 in district.

Giddings (15-12, 8-0) remained unbeaten with a 46-28 win over Caldwell (9-18, 0-8).

Smithville

Shoot ing 22 percent f rom the floor and scoring 14 points through three quar ters, the Lady Tigers had trouble catching Smithville (14-12, 6-1) at Tiger Gym Friday in a 52-25 loss.

Drake was the top scorer with six points, sinking all four of her shots from the free throw line.

Lela Mitchell followed with five points and six rebounds while Shalona Mitchell added four points.

Rojas blocked 12 shots.
