Le’Raven named first team All-State

David is second team, Brooks honorable mention

 Moments after signing his letter of intent to play football at Texas Tech, Le’Raven Clark’s day just kept getting better after learning he was named first-team All-State by the Texas Sports Writers Association.  Clark becomes the first Tiger offensive tackle to be named All-State since Leigh Shepard in 1977.

  The 6-foot-6, 275-pound Clark was an honorable mention selection last season.
  Clark was a two-time, two-way all-district selection the last two seasons, the only player in the district to accomplish the feat.
  He graded out all season at 98 percent and recorded 66 pancake blocks.
  Junior linebacker Derek David was named to the second team after leading the Tigers in tackles in 2010 with 86.
avid, who has also pledged to play at Texas Tech, is one of the most coveted players in the nation.
  The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder is rated as the best defensive player in the state by recruiting website Rivals.com.
  He has received offers from nearly every school in the nation, including Ohio. St., Notre Dame, Alabama, USC and Texas.
  Running back Daniel Brooks engaged in a personal attck on the Rockdale record books last season, establishing a new single-season mark in rushing with 1,666 yards and 22 touchdowns.
  He also turned in the first two 300-yard outings in school history, including 324 yards against LaGrange which is also a school record.
  The 5-foot-9, 170-pound speedster also led the Tigers in receiving.
  Former Rockdale player Tyler Wright was named honorable mention on the Class 4A team as a receiver.
  Another area player named to the 3A first team was Navasota defensive lineman Dillon Arrington.
  In Class 2A, Cameron’s Jack Rhoades was named the first-team punter and second-team quarterback.
  Yoe linebacker O’Neil Spells was a first-team choice at linebacker
