Ware, Sanders named to TSWA state teams

Thorndale’s Josh Ware and Milano’s Thomas Sanders were named to the Texas Sportswriters Association All-State teams.

Both were chosen honorable mention, Ware in Class 2A and Sanders in Class A.

Ware, who was a first-team pick as a defensive back in Class A a year ago and a pre-season first-team choice in 2010, made 45 tackles and picked off four passes.

The senior also returned kickoffs fo a 29-yard average and punts for a 21-yard average.

Sanders established a new school record in rushing from his quarterback position with 1,786 yards and 22 TDs.

He also passed for 1,195 yards and 16 TDs and set a single-game passing mark with 358 yards.

Sanders had 569 yards of total offense (211 rushing, 358 passing, 6 TDs) against Granger to clinch playoff berth and was named the district MVP.
