5,600 BUCKS, 550 PLATES

Rockdale Band Boosters annual spaghetti supper fund raiser drew a standing room only crowd to the junior-high commons Monday, with 550 plates sold and $5,627 raised to support RISD bands. That total includes $1,502 from auctioning cakes baked by band seniors. At right, Andey Perez, assisted by auctioneer Becky Booker Marek, holds her three-story musically-themed cake during the auction. “We can’t say enough about the tremendous support we received,” Monette Schweitzer, Band Booster president, said. “We had great response from volunteers to work during the event and the support from the public made this one of the largest turnouts ever.” The evening also featured performances by every RISD band, under the direction of Adrian Acevado and Lance Walker.
