Power outage blamed for Milano accident

A 51-year-old Caldwell woman escaped injury last Wednesday when her vehicle struck a truck trailer during a power outage which affected traffic signals in Milano.

Cynthia Aucoin was not injured in the 12:40 p.m. collision at the eastern US 79-Texas 36 intersection, according to Trooper Donald Delukie.

Delukie said Aucoin was north northbound on Texas 36, while an 18-wheeler driven by 40-year-old Bryan Hathorn of Carthage was eastbound on US 79.

Deluke said the Aucoin vehicle sustained extensive damage, while the trailer sustained minor damage in the 12:40 p.m. crash.

No injuries, and moderate damages, were reported in a Saturday accident on US 77 near Rockdale when a vehicle operated by Richard Cranford, 31, of Rockdale, struck a donkey.

Truck driver Sandford Johnson, 22, of Rusk, refused treatment when his 18-wheeler left US 79 at 10:45 p.m. Thursday near Milano. Damage estimates were not available.
