Sometimes what happens when the snow and ice go away is worse than what happens while they’re around. After sub-freezing temperatures for more than three days last week, some Rockdale residents had to deal with cracked water pipes, triggered by the freezing-thawing cycle. One of the largest was this crack in a six-inch water line on the west side of Brazos Street, which was repaired by city crews Monday. Another sub-freezing spell of winter weather arrived at mid-week.
