Season finale ends in overtime loss to upstart Smithville
With no playoff appearance on the horizon, the Rockdale Tigers at least wanted to make it difficult for Smithville to get out of the regular season.
Leaping out to a 14-point halftime lead, the Tigers watched that bulge evaporate and finally succumbed in overtime 62-59 Tuesday night at Tiger Gym in the season finale. Full Story
Milano’s return to playoffs short one
Lady Eagles can’t overcome early deficit
ELGIN— Sometimes things just aren’t in the cards and on Tuesday night at Wildcats Gym, it just wasn’t meant to be for the Milano Lady Eagles.
The team’s season came to an end with a 38-36 loss to Shiner in the bi-district round of the Class A Division I playoffs.

MILANO—The No. 5 Milano Eagles finished a clean sweep of District 27A opponents and clinched their second straight district title this week.

Thorndale misses out on state playoffs for first time since ‘02
Lost to No. 10 Jarrell puts and end to season
JARRELL—The Thorndale Bulldogs could not find a way to solve a talented Jarrell team Tuesday night and will sit out the playoffs for the first time since 2002, the last time they were in Class 2A.

Former Tiger standout Mike Lankford succumed to cancer after a 10-year battle Saturday. He was 57.
Lankford, who graduated in 1971, was a multi- spor t standout at R HS in football, basketball and golf. Full Story
