SHERIFF’S REPORT

Skeleton inquiries but still no ID

There have been several recent “missing person” inquiries, including one from California, concerning the skeleton found Jan. 13 north of Cameron, but still no identification.

Chief Deputy Chris White said the other inquiries came from Dallas and San Antonio, all involving missing young males.

Autopsy results, received by Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Gary Northcott indicate the bones were those of a white male, age 17 to 30, between 5 feet and 5 feet, 7 inches tall.

The skull and about 40 percent of a human skeleton were found by cleaning crews off US 77 about five miles north of Cameron.

It’s believed the man had been dead six to eight months.

A forensic artist is compiling a sketch to try and recreate the dead man’s features.
