TAKS exit level retest for out-of-schoolers

Rockdale High School will offer the TAKS Exit Level Exams in March 2011 for out-of-school (OOS) examinees, district testing coordinator Lynnette Guerra annouced. Tests dates are March 1 (ELA), March 2 (Math), March 3 (Science) and March 5 (Social Studies).

“Individuals who are no longer enrolled in school and who have not previously met minimum expectations on all sections of the TAKS test, but who have met all other graduation requirements, may register to retake the necessary sections(s),” Guerra said. All out-of-school TAKS examinees must complete an online registration process at http://www.TexasAssessment.com/TAKSoos.

All out-of-school TAKS examinees should notify the RHS counselors at 512-430- 6140 of their intent to test.

Guerra said that on the day(s) of testing, examinees should arrive at 8 a.m., reporting to the high school office. Examinees must present picture identification, such as a driver’s license, school ID, DPS ID, etc. to test. Examinees will not be able to take the test(s) without a picture ID.

Education funding presentation Wednesday

THORNDALE–A parent and community presentation regarding the future of public education funding, sponsored by Thorndale ISD, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, Supt. Casey Callahan said.

The presentation will be held in the TISD cafeteria and the public is welcomed to attend.

Rabies clinic set at Thorndale city park

THORNDALE–Thorndale Middle School is sponsoring a rabies clinic from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, March 26 at the pavillion at Thorndale’s city park, according to spokesperson Jana Richardson.

Dr. Arlon Graef, DVM and his staff from Graef Veterinary Hospital of Taylor will be on hand to administer rabies shots and other shots for your cats and dogs. The rabies shots will be $5 and other shots will be available.

Please use a leash on dogs and a carrier for cats, Richardson said.
