Sweden takes 2011 ‘Miss Globe’ crown

‘Miss Globe’ nets $1,200 for Roundup, PAL programs

Her talent of a Swedish massage, demonstrated in front of an audience of about 400 in the RHS auditorium Thursday night, put her well above the competition.

Miss Sweden Ivana Vinitall (Michael Fischer) was crowned Rockdale High School’s Miss Globe 2011.

The annual “beauty pageant,” featuring senior boys dressed as girls, sponsored by the RHS Peer Assistance Leadership ( PA L) group, raised about $1,200 for the local Christmas Roundup Program and the PAL group, according to PAL sponsor Karen Muston.

Miss Jamaica Lady Alexandria Bustamante (Jadon Lewis) was second runner-up and was also named Miss Photogenic.

Miss RHS Globe 2010, Miss Mexico, Salsa Picante Con Una Tortilla (Jose Buentello), returned to crown the winners.

‘Grease’ is the word

The annual pageant is billed as a fun evening and it was certainly that with many ‘talents’ portrayed by the contestants.

Miss Ireland demonstrated the proper way to peel a potato, while river dancing for the audience.

Other talents included snake charming, dancing, singing and comedy (a lot of it).

Entertainers

Entertainment was provided by singers Andey Perez, Hannah Prestridge, Ryan Esquival and Emily McCoy.

Ann King presented an overview of the Christmas Roundup program.
