Castillo Castillo Services for Leona Castillo, 81, of Rockdale were held Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home w ith Pastor Edgardo Martinez of Primera Iglesia Bautista, Rev. Roland Johnson and Pastor Jesus Reyes officiating. Burial followed in I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Mrs. Castillo died Thursday, Feb. 17, at her home in Rockdale.

A Rockdale resident since October 1943, she was born Jan. 17, 1930, in Malakoff to Jose Garza and Magdelena (Contreras) Garza.

She married Pete Castillo on March 5, 1950, in Cameron.

Mrs. Castillo was a homemaker.

She was a charter member and served Primera Iglesia Bautista Church in Rockdale for over 50 years.

Mrs. Castillo was an accomplished artist, sewed clothing and made dresses. She also crocheted and made quilts and sold Avon products for over 20 years.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Philip Johnson, in 2008; her parents; three brothers, Juan Salinas, Francisco Garza and Nicholas Garza; and three sisters, Theresa Marceleno, Beatriz Dimas and Margaret Zapata.

Survivors are her husband, Pete Castillo of Rockdale; a son, Robert L. Castillo and wife Olga of Rockdale; a daughter, Olivia Johnson and husband Roland of Fort Worth; a brother, Benito Garza and wife Margaret of Forney; a sister, Florence Nieto and husband Rafael of Rockdale; six grandchildren, Matthew Johnson and wife Kim of Denton, Anita Lea Gonzales and husband Joshua of Garland, Melanie Kelley and husband Jim of Grapevine, Laura Elizabeth Castillo of Garland, Robert J. Castillo Jr. of Austin, Valerie Johnson of Fort Worth; and five great- grandchildren, Marc Arias, Danyra Estrada, Gabriella Estrada, Dillon Johnson and Noah Benjamin Gonzalez.

Pallbearers are Robert Castillo Sr., Robert Castillo Jr., Jim Kelley, Oscar Montoya, Roland Johnson and Peter Lopez.
