GIDDINGS–Funeral services for Ella Marie Jenke Morse, 94, of Lexington were held Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings with Rev. Lee Eschberger officiating. Burial was in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Paige.

Mrs. Morse died Friday, Feb. 18, at Oakland Manor Nursing Center in Giddings.

She was born on April 24, 1916, in Paige to Hugo Emil and- Hulda (Herklotz) Jenke.

She married Samuel J. “Red” Morse and together they owned and operated a convenience store and gas station known as Red’s Place in Austin for many years.

Ella was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Albert Jenke.

Survivors are a nephew, Sam and Susan Jenke of Austin; a niece, Margo Morse of Austin; three great-nephews, Jason Jenke, Bobby and Shanna Morse, all of Austin, David Morse of Houston; and three great-nieces, Kerry and Gary Gore of Bryan, Laura and Ray Hampton of Dallas, Mecca and Jeff Givens of Fort Worth; also, other extended family members and friends.

Pallbearers were Sam Jenke, Jason Jenke, Bobby Morse, David Morse, Gary Gore and Jim Heck.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
