Milam County’s senior 4- H Nutrition Quiz Bowl team placed second at District 8 competition on March 5, earning a trip to the state contest to be held in June in College Station.

Congratulations to team members Natasha Ramthun, Elaine Luckey, Evan McCoy and Phillip Rasco for a great job.

CONSUMER RESULTS– Nine 4-Hers competed at the District 4-H Consumer Decision Making Contest on March 5 in Waco.

In the junior division: Victoria Williams placed third and Calla Vinton also participated.

In the intermediate division, our team of Julia Harwell, Hannah Hux, Holly Kornegay and Julianna Byrd placed second. Indiv idual placing for team members were Julia Harwell, fourth place and Hannah Hux, fifth place. The senior division team members were Evan McCoy, Phillip Rasco and Natasha Ramthun. McCoy was the fifth high point individual.

Congratulations to all of the 4-Hers and leaders working with the project.

STATE FAIR TAGS–Any youth interested in showing lambs or goats at the State Fair of Texas in September must order validation tags by April 7. Please visit the Milam County Extension Office to order tags. The lambs and goats will be validated in late June. The cost of State Fair of Texas validation tags is $10 per tag, and must be paid for at the time of order. If you have any questions regarding the lamb and goat validation program for the State Fair of Texas, please call 254-697-7045.

PLANT ID TEAMS–On March 23, four 4-Hers competed at the Texas Farm Ranch and Wildlife Expo Grass ID in Abilene. The team of Taylor McWilliams, Devin Fisher, Karl Woelfel and Hailee Fisher placed first.

In the individual placings, Taylor McWilliams placed first, Devin Fisher was second, Karl Woelfel placed third and Hailee Fisher was eighth.
