Milam Plant I.D. teams take top honors

HOUSTON– Milam Count y 4-H Plant I.D. teams brought home top honors at the last two contests for the year First, 19 4-Hers competed at the Houston Livestock Show Plant I.D. Contest on March 5.

Taylor McWilliams was first place high point individual with a perfect score of 600. This is the first time anyone has made a perfect score at the Houston Livestock Show Plant I.D. Contest.

Other seniors placing as individuals included:

Jarrett Beckhusen, second place; Karl Woelfel, sixth place; Devin Fisher, seventh place; Hailee Fisher, ninth place; Madeline Kostroun. 10th place.

In team rankings, first place went to Taylor McWilliams, Jarrett Beckhusen, Karl Woelfel and Devin Fisher. The fourth place team was Hailee Fisher, Madeline Kostroun and Brayden Hollomon.

In the junior division, first place team honors went to Cheyenne McWilliams, Collin Kostroun, Kelton Hooker and Patrick Cobb. The team of Kaylee Jackson, Andrew Stolte, Chandler Barton, and Neeraj Bhakta were second, while Kassidy Hundle, Rebecca Kostroun, Ethan Stork and Heath Hollas were the fourth place team.

Individual placing for the team members were:

Cheyenne McWilliams, first place; Collin Kostroun, second place; Kelton Hooker, third place; Patrick Cobb, fourth place; Kaylee Jackson, fifth place.

Also, Kassidy Hundle, eighth place; Andrew Stolte, ninth place; Chandler Barton, 10th place; Rebecca Kostroun, 12th place; Neeraj Bhakta, 14th place; Ethan Stork, 15th place; Heath Hollas, 16th place.

DISTRICT CONTEST–Plant I.D. teams also enjoyed large success at the District 8 & Open Range & Pasture Grass ID contest held in Gatesville on February 19, 2011.

In the Junior Division of the District 8 Contest, the first place team was Kaylee Jackson, Chandler Barton, Patrick Cobb and Kelton Hooker. The second place team was Rebecca Kostroun, Kassidy Hundle and Heath Hollas. Third place team was Braydon Hollomon, Ethan Stork and Neeraj Bhakta.

Milam County swept the top five individual spots with Patrick Cobb, Kelton Hooker, Kaylee Jackson, Rebecca Kostroun and Chandler Barton, respectively.

In the Intermediate Division at the district contest, Cheyenne McWilliams received first place high point individual honors, while second place individual was Collin Kostroun.

In the senior division, first place team honors went to Devin Fisher, Karl Woelfel, Hailee Fisher and Madeline Kostroun. Individuals receiving awards were Taylor McWilliams, first place; Karl Woelfel, second place and Hailey Fisher, fifth place.

One the same day, junior and senior team members also competed in the Open Range & Pasture Grass ID Contest.

First place team was Patrick Cobb, Kelton Hooker and Kaylee Jackson. Second place team was Chandler Barton, Neeraj Bhakta and Ethan Stork. Third place team was Rebecca Kostroun, Kassidy Hundle and Heath Hollas.

Individual awards were Chandler Barton, first place; Patrick Cobb, second place; Kaylee Jackson, third place; Kelton Hooker, fourth place; Kassidy Hundle, fifth place.

In the Senior Division, the first place team was Taylor McWilliams, Karl Woelfel and Devin Fisher. Second place team was Collin Kostroun, Hailee Fisher, Cheyenne McWilliams and Madeline Kostroun.

Individual senior awards included Taylor McWilliams, second place; Karl Woelfel, third place; Devin Fisher, fourth place; Collin Kostroun, fifth place.
