Cath lab due back in April

Richards Memorial Hospital’s cath lab (cardiology) is coming back and April and they mean that literally.

The well-used cath lab was one of the deletions by Blackhawk Health Care during the period in 2010 when RMH again spiraled into financial crisis.

“We went looking for a cath lab to restore the service and found our original lab was still on the market,” administrator Jeff Madison said. “So we are re-acquiring it.”

Rockdale Hospital District directors met in regular session Monday in the RMH cafeteria and heard board president Carl Hudson report the district had received a letter from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) noting the district had received a favorable determination over a long-standing issue.

Board members learned a new district audit is expected soon.

Last month the district received its 2009 audit and the 2010 results are expected this summer.

In other business, board members:

• Continued its ongoing discussion of indigent care policy.

• Heard assisted living program manager Gail Crawford report the assisted living wing currently had eight residents and is looking for more.

• Approved it’s depository contract resolution.
