Porcupines are more than the sum of their quills
A few weeks ago my sister’s dog decided to take a chunk out of a porcupine, and ended up with three hundred quills lodged in his snoot and throat. Porcupine quills are not poisonous. In fact they actually have a natural antibiotic coating, so one large vet bill later, my sister’s dog was sore, but fine. Full Story
Milam junior livestock show kicks off Thursday
Livestock sale set for 6 p.m. Saturday at Youth Exposition Building
CAMERON—This weekend the Youth Expositin Building in Cameron will be buzzing as the annual Milam Count y Junior Livestock Show comes to town.
Judging begins Thursday and continues through Friday. The event concludes at the 6 p.m. Saturday youth livestock auction sale. A buyers’ dinner precedes that event at 4:30 Saturday at Bea’s Kitchen. Full Story
Longhorn show steering back to Rockdale’s Fair Park
Herds of horns are headed to Rockdale for one of their largest registered Texas Longhorn shows. The public is invited to the free event to see some of the best of the breed in the region and experience a little bit of Texas history.
The South Texas Longhorn Association (STLA) will present the fifth annual Rockdale Registered Texas Longhorn Show on April 1-3 at Fair Park Arena. Full Story
