Worrell fund-raiser deemed success

By WANDA LEE

Many thanks to all of you who participated in the fund-raiser lunch for Gerald Worrell on Sunday. It was a success and your involvement was greatly appreciated by Gerald and his family.

Milam County 4-H recently held their county fashion show and roundup at Ben Milam Elementary in Cameron. Gause 4-Hers participating in the fashion show were Katelyn Trowbridge, Calla Vinton and Kendall Lee. Each received a blue ribbon. Charity Capps received a blue ribbon in the Share-the-Fun vocal contest.

Calla and Kendall will par- ticipate in the District 8 fashion show on Friday, April 15 and Charity in the District 8 Sharethe Fun on Saturday, April 16 in Stephenville.

On March 17, Calla, Seth and Isaac Vinton and Katelyn Trowbridge joined their parents and other Milam County 4-Hers for a trip to the Ronald McDonald House in Temple where they took can tabs that had been collected during the year and “wish items.”

There are several Gause 4-H members that will participate in the Milam County Junior Livestock Show and the home economics division of the show this weekend. Good luck to all of you. Family members were in Milano on Saturday afternoon to help Hannah Bakken celebrate her third birthday with big party.

The community is saddened at the death of Mildred Simmons. She passed away early Sunday morning at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 23 at the Gause Baptist Church. She will be missed in the community. Our sincere sympathy to her family.

Lois Wilkins is a great-grandmother again, along with Verna Rachui of Hearne. Megan Kay was born to Stephanie and Rey Molales of Pasadena on March 16. Maternal grandparents are Steve and Kay Rachui. This also means that Mildred Ely Bowling has another great-great-granddaughter.

As I understand, there were several families from here who took trips to Sea World in San Antonio during spring break and all the youngsters I’ve talked with had a great time.

Bro. Jimmy and Karen Sanders’ granddaughter Ellabeth is now at home from the hospital with parents Megan and Bryan Tribble and sister Kadence in Austin. She now weighs over six pounds, but is still having a few medical problems.

Connelly and Cameron Cooper spent several days of their spring break with their grandparents Dan and Maxine Cooper in Conroe.

On Monday, March 28, the Gause Junior High track teams will be in Somerville to compete in the district track meet. Best of luck youth.

Make plans to attend the second annual Gause ISD Art Fair from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 31 in the school library.

On Friday, April 1, the Gause Junior High student council and National Junior Honor Society will meet at 3:15 p.m. Fifth and eighth grades will take the TAKS math and reading test on April 4-5.
