Milano Junction Jamboree

Milano—The monthly Milano Country Junction Jamboree will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 28 at the Milano Civic Center. Visitors and musicians are invited. Admission is free. Refreshments will be available.—Tena Galbreath, publicity.

Thorndale Jamboree

THORNDALE—Members of Thorndale VFW Post 4009 and Auxiliary will be sponsor the monthly Thorndale Country & Gospel Music Jamboree on Monday, March 28 at the VFW Post Home on North FM 486.

This show was started in March, 1995 and is held every fourth Monday except in December. “Thanks to a lot of talented musicians and lots of volunteers, we have completed 16 years of shows and will be starting the 17th year Monday,” Marjorie Menzel, publicist, said.

“Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for anyone wanting to come early and enjoy the sausage wraps, chicken salad sandwiches, homemade pies and more. The show will start at 7 p.m.,” she said.

RVFD scholarship

Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary will again sponsor a scholarship this spring. Eligible sons and daughters of fire department and auxiliary members may pick up applications at the RVFD fire Station. Deadline for submitting application and essay is April 5. Linwood Acres Club

Linwood Acres Garden Club’s annual Spring Happening will be held on April 27 at St. John’s United Methodist fellowship hall, the club’s major fund-raiser. Call a club member for tickets. It will be a tasting salad luncheon with cupcakes for dessert.—Billie Noack, reporter

Minerva Water Supply

Minerva Water Supply Corporation will hold its annual meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 31 at the Minerva Community Center.

Members must RSVP by 5 p.m. March 25 in order to attend the meal. RSVP to Linda Masur, 446- 6327. Two board positions will be voted on during the meeting.

Fish fry each Friday

Rockdale Knights of Columbus are holding their annual Lenten fish fries each Friday through April 15, serving from 5 until 7:30 p.m. (or until sold out) at the KC Hall.

Plates are $8 (dine in or take out) and include fish, fries, hush puppies, slaw, green beans, tea and dessert.

Milam Aggie Moms

Milam County Aggie Moms are having a fund-raiser to help provide scholarships to Milam high school seniors who will be attending Texas A&M University, Susan Fuchs announced.

Tickets can be purchased from any Aggie Mom or call Debbie Vansa, 254- 697-5057, or Jean Darby, 512-983- 0033.

Items in the fund-raiser include an Aggie quilt, a Benjamin Knox framed print “Future Aggies;” an Aggie game table and a $100 Visa gift card. Drawing will be April 16.

Town & Country Club

THORNDALE—The Thorndale Town & Country Club will hold a bake sale at the Thorndale Area Chamber’s Quilt/Car/Crafts show Saturday, March 26. Pie orders may be made by calling Betty Ballew at 446- 6320 and she will have the pie ready on Saturday.—Darleen Tucker, secretary

LEXINGTON—The annual business meeting of the Lexington Cemetery Association will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 3 in the Woodson Building in Lexington.

CVFD Auxiliary fish fry

CAMERON—The Cameron Volunteer Fire department Ladies Auxiliary will hold a fish fry on Friday, March 25. Plates will include fish, fries, coleslaw and hush puppies.
