Area players named to all-state, all-region basketball teams

Several area basketball players have been named to honor teams by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches released last week.

Milano’s Jaxson Robinson and Dominique Messer, along with Mumford’s Aubrie King and Matt Williams were named to the All- Region squad for Class A Division I boys.

Cameron’s Jack Rhoades and Zach Brashear were honored with all-region in the AA ranks, as was Lady Yoe player Kaitlyn Zarosky. Zarosky was also named to the girls’ all-state team.

MILANO– Robinson was named the most valuable player for District 27A this year, helping lead the Eagles to a second straight district title. In his senior year, Robinson averaged 10 points a game, along with 6.3 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.8 steals.

As a sophomore this season, Messer was named the district’s offensive MVP. He was the team’s top scorer, averaging 12.2 points per game and also led on boards with 8.0 per game. He also averaged 3.4 steals per game.

Milano was 27-4 this season.

CAMERON–Brashear and Rhoades, both seniors, help lead the Yoemen to the regional quarterfinal this season. Brashear, averaged 20.8 points per game and was the 27AA most valuable player.

ALL- STATE–King was the only freshman to be named to the all-state squad in all classifications. He also earned all-region honors.

King was named 26A most valuable player. At 6-fo0t-4, he averaged 21.8 points, 10.8 rebounds and 5. 4 assists in leading the Mustangs to a 27-7 record.

Zarosky, a senior, helped lead the Lady Yoe to the regional finals this season. It was the furthest any Cameron girls basketball team had gone in the post season.
