Garage sale Saturday

Rising Star Baptist Church, 1022 Texas Street in Rockdale, will hold a garage sale at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 2 to benefit the church building fund. Sale items will be suitable for the entire family: clothes, housewares, shoes, furniture, books, tools, fixtures and more, said Lisa Dennis, publicist.

Women’s Bible study

The ladies ministry of Rising Star Baptist Church invites all women to attend Bible Study each Sunday. Classes meet from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at Citizen’s National Bank Community Room, Rockdale. For more information call Lisa Dennis, 512- 657-3972, or Jo Ann Bradford, 446-3242.

Forest Grove Christian

Dr. Grady S. McMurtry, Biblical scientific creationist, will speak at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, April 10, and 7 p.m. Monday, April 11, at Forest Grove Christian Church.

Brandon Navarre, FGCC minister, said Dr. McMurtry “is a recognized international speaker on the subject of creation vs. evolution, both from a Biblical viewpoint as well as that of secular science.” The public is invited, Navarre said.

Weight loss meetings

Milam County Cowboy Church hosts Weight Watchers meetings every Tuesday. Meetings start at 6 p.m., weigh-in is at 5:30. Call Greg Spears, pastor, for more information, 760- 6282.

Men’s breakfast April 12

Next monthly second-Tuesday ecumenical community men’s fellowship breakfast will be 7 to 8 a.m. April 12 at First Presbyterian Church fellowship hall.

Purpose is Christian fellowship. These breakfasts rotate between several local churches and all men of the Rockdale area are invited.

Gospel lessons April 3-8

Rockdale Church of Christ, meeting at 204 N. Main, will conduct a series of gospel lessons presented by J.A. Sayre of Jonesborough, TN here April 3-8 at the meeting site.

Bible answers—A new Bible answer forum is available, free to anyone with email access, according to Gant. The site is bible. questions@live.com and promises to provide Bible answers with book, chapter and verse quotations to questions, Gant said.

Blood drive Sunday

THORNDALE—St. Paul Lutheran Church will host a blood drive Sunday, April 3 when the Scott & White Bloodmobile will visit from 8 a.m. until noon. Donors will get a T-shirt, free globe squeeze, a free combo from Schlotzsky’s and a chance to win a fitness club membership, said Teresa Ging, spokesperson. Everyone is invited to turn out and “give the gift of life,” Ging said.

Lutheran League

THORNDALE—“Being With Jesus—Living on the Edge” will be the theme of the 2011 Lutheran Women Missionary League spring banquet at 7 p.m. Monday, April 11 in the St. Paul Lutheran Family Activity Center.

Morning Star trail ride

MILANO–Morning Star Ranch, CR 328 southwest of Milano, will host an American Competitive Trail Horse Association trail competition, said owners Andy and Rita Kay Isaacs. The two-day event will run April 30 and May 1 and funds raised will be used to help finish the Hospitality House at the ranch.
