Pack 789 announces Pinewood Derby winners

The winners were: first place, Tyler Avrett; second place, Tyler Yarborough; third place, Weston Avrett

We would like to thank Denice Doss of the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce and Charlie Wise of Cameron for volunteering their time to judge the appearance of the Cub Scouts cars.

Appearance winners were: most colorful, Trey Hale; least help, Jonah Rosales; best looking, Liam Trapani; fastest looking, Aaron Oertli.

The pack also thanks Rachael Tovar and the staff at Pizza Hut for making and donating pizza for the scouts and their families during the race.

The Cub Scouts held their award ceremony during the Blue & Gold Banquet on Monday, March 28.

The following scouts were awarded:

• Weston Avrett—black bead, Tiger Cub badge, art belt loop, hiking belt loop, citizenship belt loop, Pinewood Derby patch, community service patch.

• Pete Salcedo—two black beads, Tiger Cub badge, good manners belt loop, citizenship belt loop, hiking belt loop, newspaper patch, Pinewood Derby patch, community service patch.

• Liam Trapani— black bead, Tiger Cub badge, citizenship belt loop, hiking belt loop, Pinewood Derby patch, community service patch.

• Jacob Avilla—silver arrow point, photography belt loop, Pinewood Derby patch, community service patch.

• Joseph Nieto—silver arrow point, photography belt loop, pinewood derby patch, community service patch.

• Antonio Pope Jr— silver arrow point, photography belt loop, pinewood derby patch, community service patch.

• Nicholas Adams— silver arrow point, whittling chip and patch, Pinewood Derby patch.

• Nicholas Brindle—five red beads, Bear Cub badge, whittling chip and patch, map and compass belt loop, Pinewood Derby patch, community service patch.

• George Duree—whittling chip and patch.

• Trey Hale—two red beads, Bear Cub badge, whittling chip and patch, map and compass belt loop, Pinewood Derby patch, community service patch.
