Tigers upset No. 13 Buffs for 23AAA win
Rockdale needed a big win to turn around its baseball season and the Tigers got just that on the road Tuesday, upsetting state ranked Giddings 5-3.
Big Blue dropped a 17-2 decision to La Grange in Friday and is now 1-2 in district, 5-14 overall.

Lady Tigers drop two in district campaign
Rockdale came up against the teams most coaches picked to be the top two squads in District 23AAA and neither No. 23 LaGrange nor No. 20 Giddings did anything to mar those reputations.
LaGrange ripped RHS 13- 1 on Fr iday and Giddings defeated the Lady Tigers 10-0 Tuesday.
That left Rockdale at 2-2 in district play, 6-5 overall. Full Story

Milano softball team scores wins
MILANO–With just one game left in the first round of 27A softball action, the Milano Lady Eagles are sitting in second place behind Thrall after posting wins over Burton and Holland this week. They are now at 3-1 in league play and 4-11 on the season.
On Tuesday, Milano hosted and defeated Burton 7-3. Kiersten Bastow tossed the win with four strikeouts and no walks. Full Story

MILANO–The Milano Eagles (6-2, 2-0) are finding all kinds of ways to win in 27A action.
On Tuesday, Milano fell 10-3 to visiting Georgetown Gateway, but earned the win because of the charter school’s forfeit prior to play. Full Story

Jones-Clayton team wins Rising Star golf tourney
Rising Star Baptist Church’s second annual golf classic, held Saturday at Black hawk Golf Course in Pflugerville, was termed a major success by tourney officials. Proceeds benefitted the church building fund.
Awards and trophies were presented to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams, and for the longest drive and closest to pin contest winners.

Bulldogs struggling in league action
The Thorndale Bulldogs are having problems finding their groove in 27AA play. They are 2-4 in league play with a loss at Lexington on Tuesday night. They are 12-6 on the year.
Thorndale went up 2-0 in the third, but Lexington answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame. The Eagles added three more in the fifth. Full Story

Thorndale girls win one, lose one in 27AA
You win some and you lose some and that is exactly what happend to the Thorndale Lady Dogs this week.
They fell to No. 22 Lexington on the road Tuesday night 7-4, but squeezed out a 1-0 road victory over Lago Vista on Friday.
The Lady Dogs are 4-4 in district play and 9-11 on the year.

Milano’s Czajkowski 9th at state meet
ABILENE–Milano High School sophomore Jamie Czajkowski finished ninth at the 2011 Texas High School Powerlif ting Association’s State Powerlifting Championships on Sunday at the Taylor County Expo Center.
He entered the meet as the 11th ranked lifter in the Class A 181- pound weight class. He was the regional champion going in. Full Story
