House bill ‘devastating’ for RISD
Two-year loss estimated at $2.7 million; Senate version ‘manageable’
HB 1, the school finance bill which cleared the Texas House of Representatives Sunday night, would have “devastating” consequences for the Rockdale ISD, according to Supt. Dr. Howell Wright.
A bill being considered by the Texas Senate would be “more manageable,” Dr. Wright said, with anticipated cuts of about one third the house version. Full Story

Kathy Pelzel, an employee of the Rockdale ISD technology department for the past 10 years, was named new principal of Rockdale Intermediate School Thursday by trustees.

RYBA opens season with flag, honors

Rockdale’s Youth Baseball Association (RYBA) got a big jump on summer, holding opening ceremonies for the 2011 season Saturday, the second day of April.

Brooks wins 4 events for RHS at Caldwell
CALDWELL—Daniel Brooks won four events, and was second in another, as the Rockdale Tigers finished second in the Hornet Relays Thursday.
The Lady Tigers were third as Emily Brinkley won two events.
QUAD WINNER—Brooks won the long jump (21- 4), 110-high hurdles (14.17), 100 meters (10.66) and 300-hurdles (39.19). Full Story
