Miracle Network ‘state champ’ to appear in Friday fund-raiser

Dustin Strelsky of Rockdale, 2011 Texas champion on the Children’s Miracle Network, will appear at a network fund-raiser Friday afternoon at a local convenience store.

“Dustin and his family will be at the Rockdale CEFCO between 3 and 6 p.m.,” Kellie Tiner, Children’s Miracle Network manager for Scott & White Children’s Hospital.

“CEFCO is a national partner for the network and is currently fund raising at all its locations,” Tiner said.

“Everyone is invited to come out and raise money to help Dustin and youngsters like him,” Tiner said.

Strelsk y was named Texas champ for the network in December and will travel extensively during the year.

Then 12, Strelsky sustained a spinal cord injury on Jan. 20, 2010 in a highway accident near Hearne that also injured his mother and sister and took the life of a 73-year-old Jacksonville resident.

He has had five surgeries.

Children’s Medical Network is a non-profit organization encompassing 170 hospitals nationwide.
