Kirk

Funeral services for Andy Kirk, 81, of Rockdale were held Monday, April 4, 2011, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Chapel. Burial followed in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale. Rev. Calvin Springer officiated.

Mr. Kirk died Friday, April 1, at Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

He was born March 23, 1930, in Rosebud to Mar vin and Anne (Blankenship) Kirk.

A longtime Rockdale resident, he started his career with I.G.C. in Rockdale in the mines, then draglines, bulldozer operator and ended as a foreman.

On July 19, 1957, he married Earline Wilkes in Cameron.

Mr. Kirk was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and Rockdale Masonic Lodge No. 414 AF & AM.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and anything outdoors.

Mr. Kirk also coached Lit tle League.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Earline, on May 25, 1991; a son, Tim Kirk, on March 25, 2011; a granddaughter, Tonia Dubose, on May 9, 1997; a brother, Jerry Kirk, on Oct. 31, 2002; a nephew, Jason Kirk, on Jan. 8, 1999; and a sister, Joann Riley.

Sur vivors are two daughters, Debbie Cebreco and husband Jorge of Rockdale, Sharon Weichert and husband Gar y of Needville; two sons, Alan Lefler of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Andy Earl Kirk of Minneapolis, Minnesota; a brother, Arnold Kirk and wife Reba of Alvin; a sister, Nell Odstrcil and husband Walter of Cameron; five grandchildren, Timothy Kirk Jr., Tiara Kirk, Aaron Ward, Jordan Lefler and Sonya Romero; and four great- grandsons, Trevor Ward, Lil David Romero, Bobby Romero and Heaven Romero.

Pallbearers were Neil Farrell Jr., Billy Goodman, Gabriel Goodman, Mark Pinkerton, Kenny Schneebeli and Anthony Proctor.
