The Rockdale Tigers held on for an 8- 7 win over Caldwell on Friday, then dropped a 6-5 extra-inning thriller to Navasota on Tuesday.

That leaves RHS at 2-3 in district play, 6-14 overall.

NAVASOTA—RHS rallied fr a sixth-inning run to tie the game 5-5 but Navasota pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh to eke out a win in a game that could have boosted the Tigers to a winning district record.

Clayton Gibbs was 3-for-4 at the plate with 2 RBIs, while Dillan Schnerr and Duke Schneider each had 2 hits for Big Blue.

Schneider Gibbs and Cody Skubal shared mound duties for Big Blue.

CALDWELL—It began as a slugfest but Rockdale held on for an 8-7 victory over Caldwell on Friday.

RHS led 8-5 after three innings as Schnerr swung the big bat with two doubles and four RBI.

Gibbs added a pair of RBI.

Caldwell scored solo runs in the fifth and seventh but Gibbs slammed the door to pick up a save.

Skubal got the win for RHS.

Tiger head coach Jarad Richards said the change in quality of play isn’t because of anything the team is doing different.

“To be honest we aren’t doing different things–we’re just doing the things we’ve tried doing all year better. We’re actually executing at the plate, pitchers are actually starting to execute their pitches better and defense is making the plays when needed,” Richards said. “Hopefully we’ll continue with these results and just take the rest of the season one game at a time. If we do this, I think we’ll find ourselves right in the playoff hunt at the end of district.”
