Alcoa leadership scholarships offered

Alcoa Foundation is proud to launch the Alcoa’s Global Service Leaders Scholarship Program for 50 students, ages 15 to 18, to attend the Institute for Civic Leadership’s Summer Academy for two weeks at the Dwight International School (DIS) at Shawnigan Lake, British Columbia in Vancouver Island, Canada.

Scholarships are open to children of Alcoa employees as well as students from our local communities.

The students who are awarded scholarships will join 50 other individuals from across the world for a unique opportunity to study and learn how to become a “sustainable leader.” Through workshops, team building exercises, games and excursions they will be challenged to reach their highest leadership potential.

After two weeks, participants will be connected to a global network of service leaders and understand how to “make service count” through positive impact on their communities.

Local school superintendents have been given the details of this program. Interested students can contact them or contact Jim Hodson, Public Affairs and Environmental Manager, at 512- 446- 8206 or Karolyn Puccio at 512-446-8681.
