‘Inflatables Night’ Saturday at Baptist Church

Youngsters Kindergar- ten through fifth grade, remember Saturday, from 6- 9 p.m. is “Inflatables Night” at Gause Baptist Church Family Life Center. Refreshments of hot dogs and trimmings will be served.

Gause Community Improvement Program met April 4 for the group’s monthly meeting. Members spent time discussing ongoing projects as well as future projects. The date of the annual Founders Day activities was set for Saturday, Sept. 3. The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Monday, May 2 at the Gause Community Center.

Lois Wilkins joined daughter Beverly Nigliazzo of Hearne in Kerr v ille for the weekend where they visited with Shannon and Eric Sleepers, Margan and Ethan. They spent Saturday seeing the sights in Fredericksburg.

Wanda and Alfred Coats and Mildred Ely Bowling spent Saturday night in Texas City and then Sunday morning took a tour of Galveston before joining Lauren and Blane Ward and other family members at the First Baptist Church of Galveston for the baby dedication of son Grant Preston Ward. Grant is the Coats’ great grandson and Bowling’s greatgreat grandson.

Gause Junior High cheerleader tryouts were Tuesday, so next week we will know who the 2011- 12 Gause Bears cheerleaders and mascot will be. The 2011 Texas 4-H Indoor Archery Championship was held last month in Bay City and Graham. Scores from the two places were totaled together and winners announced. Gause 4-H Club members placing were: Jaxon Hayles, first in junior “A” class compound unaided; Kendall Lee, 12th in intermediate bare bow “A” class; Cameron Cooper, fifth in intermediate “A” class compound unaided; and Connelly Cooper, second in senior “B” class compounded aided.

This weekend was the State 4- H Shooting Sports Extravaganza in Brownwood at the State 4-H Center. Milam County Shooting Sports Club made up of members from the various 4-H clubs in the county was well represented.

Participating from Gause 4-H were Seth Vinton (intermediate field archery, recurve, air pistol), Cameron Cooper (intermediate BB gun, 3D archery compound), Kendall Lee (intermediate field archery, recurve, BB gun), Connelly Cooper (senior 3D compound archery, light rifle silhouettes) and Jaxon Hayles ( junior BB gun, field archery compound). Jaxon won first place in the field archery compound contest.

Accompanying these youth to Brownwood were Kristi Lee, Kim Lee, Jerry Vinton, Kelly and Chris Cooper, Wayne and I. We all had a great time.
