OAP to hold public performance Thursday
Milano High School’s One-Act Play will give a public performance of their award-winning sf “The History of Tom Jones” at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 14 in the school’s cafetorium. Admission prices are $3 for adults and $2 for senior citizens and students. There will also be a silent auction at the performance. The group advanced all the way to area with this year’s play.
This month’s Milano Opry is set for Saturday, April 16 at the Milano High School cafetorium with doors opening at 6 p.m. and the show starting at 7.
TheOprywillhaveconcessions on hand which will include chicken and tuna sandwiches, sausage wraps and their famous homemade pies. The headliner this month is Mason Roach and special guests are Jerimy Wade, Jerry Gerosa and Julie Smith. House band members are Billy Barnett, Ab Woods, Michael Wall, Gary Beard, Lynn Martin and Donny White as emcee.
Admission price is $7 and children 10 and under are free. The Milano Opry’s goal is to provide scholarships to local graduates.
Milano Lodge #605 AF&AM will hold its annual golf tournament on Saturday to benefit the group’s scholarship fund. The event will be held at the Cameron Country Club. For more information, contact Jesse Love, 512-455-7915 or Aaron Alford, 512-446-5450.
There is also a team roping and play day on Saturday at Rockdale’s Fair Park Arena for Milano’s Project Graduation. The play day will start at 4 p.m. and include dummy roping (12 and under), calf scramble (12 and under), stick horse racing (bring your own stick horse, six and under), egg racing around barrels (12 and under) and boot scramble (six and under). There is a $5 entry and prizes will be given.

Members of the “Team Tammy” Relay For Life team will hold a silent auction at Saturday’s Milano Opry. The team is also planning a garage sale on Saturday, April 30 in front of Smokin’ Oak BBQ on US 79. Donations are now being taken. Thank you to everyone that came out and showed your support for Gerald Worrell at the benefit on Saturday. Proceeds will help Gerald with his medical and living expenses. Milano VFD Ladies Auxiliary will have their annual garage sale April 26-30 at the Milano Civic Center. Doors open each day at 8 a.m.
