Milano Opry ahead
MILANO—The Milano Opry will be Saturday, April 16, at the Milano High Cafetorium. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7. Chicken and tuna sandwiches, sausage wraps and homemade pies will be sold.
Headliner will be Mason Roach and special guests are Jerimy Wade, Jerry Gerosa and Julie Smith. House band members are Billy Barnett, Ab Woods, Michael Wall, Gary Beard, Lynn Martin and Donny White as emcee.
Admission is $7 (children 10 and under free). “The Opry’s goal is to provide scholarships to local graduates,” said Lynn Martin, publicist.
Linwood Acres Club
Linwood Acres Garden Club’s annual Spring Happening will be held on Wednesday, April 27 at St. John’s United Methodist fellowship hall, the club’s major fund-raiser. Call a club member for tickets. It will be a tasting salad luncheon with cupcakes for dessert.—Billie Noack, reporter
Final KC fish fry
Rockdale Knights of Columbus will hold their final Lenten fish fry Friday, April 15, serving from 5 until 7:30 p.m. at the KC Hall. Plates are $8 (dine in or take out) and include fish, fries, hush puppies, slaw, green beans, tea and dessert.
BBQ chicken meals
BUCKHOLTS—The Buckholts freshman class will hold a barbecue chicken meal and silent auction fund-raiser on Sunday, April 17. The $7 plate will include a chicken half, potato salad, beans, dessert and drink. Serving will be from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the Buckholts school cafeteria.
Milam Aggie Moms
Milam County Aggie Moms are having a fund-raiser to help provide scholarships to high school seniors who will attend Texas A&M University, Susan Fuchs announced.

Items in the fund-raiser include an Aggie quilt, a Benjamin Knox framed print “Future Aggies;” an Aggie game table and a $100 Visa gift card. Drawing will be Saturday.
Yoe band trip BBQ
Yoe High School band members Ke’Ara and Tashena Tindle will hold a barbecue fund-raiser starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 16 at the Rockdale city hall parking lot to help with expenses for an upcoming band trip. Brisket, chicken and sausage will be sold in plates for $8 and sandwiches for $6.

Paint Milam Purple
Friday, April 29, is Paint the County Purple Day. Relay For Life of Milam County committee is hoping to get everyone in the county involved by wearing purple this day.
“We are also hoping that businesses and churches will put up purple bows or ribbons around their trees,” event chair Kim Jeter said.
The committee is selling purple T-shirts. Youth sizes through Adult XL are $15, while 2XL and 3Xl shirts are $17 each.
