GIDDINGS—Before the Rockdale track team stepped off the yellow dog bus they had taken to the district track meet, coach Jim Kerbow had a simple message for them.

Friday could be the night the Rockdale Lady Tigers have been looking for the entire season.
RHS split games with Smithville and23AAApowerLa Grange during the week and can clinch a post-season slot with a win over Giddings at home Friday.

Rotary lists golf scramble winners
Forty-four players competed in the Rockdale Rotary Club’s annual Mike McFalls Memorial Scholarship Scramble golf tournament Saturday at Rockdale Country Club, the event benefitting the club’s scholarship fund.
First-place team, at 16-under par, was composed of Mark Jackson, Bob Wilson, Rob Wilson, Gregory Shultz and David Hafner. Full Story

Tigers fall twice in loop
Rockdale dropped a pair of District 23AAA baseball games during the past week, a squeaker to Smithville and a more substantial loss to La Grange.
The Tigers enter play this week with a 2-5 district mark, 6-17 overall.

T’dale, Milano playoff hopes dwindling
Hopes for a run in the Class 2A softball playoffs all but came to an end on Tuesday night for the Thorndale Lady Dogs (12- 12, 7-5) as they lost a must have game 8-5 to Academy.
The Lady Dogs were sitting tied for third place in 27AA with the Lady Bees and Cameron going into Tuesday’s game after Thorndale defeated Cameron on Friday 6-3. Full Story

Eagles, Bulldogs continue league play
The Milano Eagles baseball team (9-3, 5-1) bounced back on Tuesday night with a 10- 5 road victory at Holland. The Eagles suffered their first 27A loss on Friday by the same score to Thrall. The Holland game began the second half of league play for Milano.
The teams had things tied up at 3-3 after three innings before the Eagle bats got hot. Full Story
