Counterfeit $100 turns up in raid, two arrested

Rockdale police assisted the Milam County Sheriff’s Department in serving a search warrant at a Calhoun Street address Monday, made two arrests and located one of the phony $100 bills which were the subject of a recent alert.

Vanette Yumon Wilburn, 37, was charged with forgery of a financial instrument, possession of dangerous drugs, and bond surrender on three previous charges.

She remains in the Milam County Jail. Bond was set at $21,500.

Also arrested was Trey Mitchell 25, of Rockdale. He was charged only with possession of a dangerous drug.

Newlin said the phony $100 was made “using the authentic paper on which currency is printed.”
